For 2009 we would like the focus of our Art Class to be on recycling. With this in mind, I'd like to encourage everyone to start a 'recycle box' at home for the Art Class. In it you can put things like Pringles cans and lids, tin cans and lids, softdrink bottle tops, foil chocolate wrappers (that have been washed off), toilet paper rolls, foam trays from vegetables (not meat please), wine bottles...the list is endless. Anything you think could make a fun art project would be appreciated. When your box is full please bring it to the Art Room for sorting and watch us turn your junk into fun crafts!
I am also hoping that this year the children can make their OWN Easter Bonnets out of recycled materials so that the Easter Bonnet competition goes back to the spirit in which it was originally created - as a way for the children to show off their creativity and talent. To make things easy for you here is a list of things we love to get in the Art Room:
Ice cream containers
Old carnival costumes (for sequins etc), old bead jewelery
Foam veggie trays
Pringles cans (either size) with lids
Buttons
Beads
Can lids
Old Cards (Christmas or Birthday)
Crayons
Markers
Pipe Cleaners
Google eyes or other craft material
Yarn (all colours and lots of it!!)
Toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls, tin foil rolls any cardboard tubes
Paper bags
Flower pots
Paper plates and cups
Old Scratched CDs
The list can go on and on..... :) See here for more on the wish list : http://www.princetonol.com/groups/iad/Files/wish.htm
So 2009 is the year of Green for the Art Room. Looking forward to your support! Start sorting and saving that junk!!
